Our Teachers

Maryanne Armstrong

As a preschool teacher for almost 30 years, Maryanne loves teaching now as much as when she first began her career. After completing her teaching certificate at Queen’s University and her Primary Specialist Certificate at Toronto Teachers College, Maryanne began her career teaching preschool for 15 years in Lakeview before moving to Calgary with her husband. Now, with three grown daughters and four grandchildren, Maryanne feels blessed to have been a part of the teaching team at Learning Adventures for over 12 years. Not only does she love working with little children, but enjoys watching them grow and develop at this young age. When she is not at the school, Maryanne enjoys travelling, spending time with friends, walking, aqua-fit, reading and doing Sudoku.

Lisa Korver

With an Early Education certificate from Lethbridge Community College, Lisa has taught preschool for over six years at Learning Adventures. She is very excited to teach at the preschool level, given the amount of growth and development that happens in these critical years. When she is not in the classroom, Lisa enjoys spending time with family, camping, bike riding, and pizza/movie nights!

Gwen Russell

Although it is her fifth year with the preschool program, this is Gwen's first year as a full-time aide, and she finds teaching preschool children exciting. Not only does Gwen loves working with the kids, but she enjoys watching them grow and develop new friends, skills, and confidence. When she is not in school, Gwen enjoys exercising, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Susan Reimer

As a learning Assistant for over seven years, Susan is excited to teach the three-year-old class. She feels honoured to work with young children because they have so much to teach us about living in the moment and how to be Christ-like in everything we do. Little people know how to live, love, and laugh which Susan truly embraces every day. When she is not working with children in the classroom, Susan enjoys running and spending time with her family and friends.

Erin Van Rhijn

With her Bachelor of Fine Arts Diploma, Erin has been enjoying using her artistic talents with the children in the class and loves the beautiful pieces of art they create. As an assistant at the preschool for over four years, she has always enjoyed being around children and considers it a blessing to be able to work with such amazing, creative young people! In her spare time, Erin loves to go for walks, play piano, and make art creations of her own. Spending time with her family is also very important to Erin, so she very much enjoys watching her kids play hockey and play games together.

Susan Ohman

Holding her Bachelor of Education, Susan has taught in all levels of education and realizes how important early education is. At Learning Adventures Preschool for over ten years, Susan still enjoys the incredible blessing that comes with this age group. She loves working with children and providing meaningful, dynamic educational programming to stimulate their young minds. A native Calgarian, Susan and her husband have two grown children of their own. When she isn’t working, Susan enjoys golfing, walking the family dog, and spending time with friends and family.
